WHAT WE DO

IMPACT OF COVID-19

Before the pandemic, we were home to 50 orphaned and abandoned children. After the outbreak, the number of children seeking help doubled. Many families have reached out to us, as well, asking for food and resources. We now find ourselves supporting 200 children who have been orphaned or endangered by illness, death or poverty.

POULTRY PROJECT

The Poultry Project is the first of our initiative to be self-sustaining.
Our Canadian sponsor paid for this project and Michael Nyanzi and Nakimera. They found a place for them, make sure we could secure it at night and we bought the food and the dishes (with Nakimera’s guidance because
she had poultry at one time) finally we bought a rooster, Henry, last week.So we are planning on eggs and chicken to add to the food we eat. It is very exciting.

Let me take this opportunity to introduce to you our poultry project.
We have started with only 10 chicken and we hope that if they lay eggs we have a plan of hatching them so that we can have chicks to raise in order to expand the project to 1000 chicken.
This project will benefit us in many ways, some of them are;

1. Food Security:

The eggs produced by the chickens will be a valuable source of protein for the children. They will be used for cooking meals or eaten as a snack.

2.Income generation: Selling the eggs or hatching eggs and sell chicks will provide us with a source of income. This will be used to purchase other necessities for the children, such as clothing or school supplies.

3.Educational opportunities: Taking care of the chickens will provide the children with hands-on learning opportunities about animal husbandry, nutrition, and business management.

4.Emotional benefits: Caring for animals will have a therapeutic effect on children who may have experienced trauma or hardship. It will help them develop a sense of responsibility and empathy.

100 ACRES FARM LAND – $60,000

Sustainable Projects will help the home to have a self-supporting system. the farmland will be used to:

1. Produce sufficient food for the home.

2. Train children in agriculture and animal husbandry.

3. Support the income of the home.

THE PIGGERY PROJECT FOR ORPHANS

Michael Nyganzi and Nakimera, once again, figured out how we could have a piggery.
Our Canadian Sponsor Canada Cares sponsored the project. The kids all take a turn feeding and cleaning
(and chasing) the pigs. We are hoping for more piggies very soon.

THE GARDENING PROJECT

This little starter garden by Nakimera and Michael will bring some much-needed food to the orphanage. Every morsel counts. The children eat twice a day and they are hungry, their bodies need te nutrition found in fruits and vegetables. We are excited to see this garden flourish. We are growing tomatoes, pumpkins, corn, and other staples.

OUR FOCUS

To affirm that God loves all people, no matter their category or class. We believe all children are deserving of safety, health care, food, shelter, and a basic education… as well as love and support. We also believe that support should extend to all those struggling in our communities. Most families in which a family member is infected with HIV end up isolated, lacking necessities and medical care, but also lacking community. We are here to be their support and their community. Jesus said “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy” (Matthew, 5:7). We humbly strive to offer mercy, in the hope that mercy will come back to us one day.

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION:
— To ensure that every child has a chance at a bright future
— To make sure that every child gets a proper, standard education, no matter the circumstances of his or her parents
— To help vulnerable children live healthy lives and experience a normal childhood
— To show that anyone can make a difference, and that you don’t need to have much to give
